How do you unlock Handyman?

Fight the Mutated Bowhead Whale, reduce its health to a final sliver, switch to completely empty hands, and personally land the killing punch. Do not equip Brass Knuckles. Only 2.9% of players had Handyman when Steam’s global figures were checked on September 1, 2026.

What is the safest setup?

Finish the story route far enough to summon the final lava whale, bring a fully upgraded accurate weapon, and carry cooked healing fish. Use the Bowhead Whale boss guide for its attacks and the weapon guide for a controllable damage option.

1. Damage the boss normally through both phases.
2. Stop shooting earlier than feels necessary; accidental gun kills are the common failure.
3. Put away guns and Brass Knuckles.
4. Close the distance after a safe attack window.
5. Punch until the boss dies, then wait for the achievement notification.

Does Handyman work in co-op?

The main Steam guide says one player’s killing punch can credit the whole lobby, but recent comments on that same guide report that only the puncher received it. Because those reports conflict, the safe rule is: the player who needs Handyman should land the final punch. Keep teammates from firing once the health bar is nearly empty.

If you want a lower-risk solo attempt, complete Easy and the normal achievement cleanup route first, then return with full supplies.
